Again, I Ask Your Help. Hypothetically.
[info]octoberess wrote in [info]arcanasoapslove
Here's a question which definitely, absolutely does not pertain to anything at all (including any winter holiday whatsoever). However, if you'd be so kind as to answer, I'd be very grateful.

If you were to rank the following four scents in terms of which you're most interested in, how would you rank them, using a 1 to 4 system, e.g.:

1._____
2._____
3._____
4._____

Please make #1 most interested in and 4 least interested in. Even if you'd like to try whatever your #4 is a lot, I'd still like to know the rankings, if you wouldn't mind. And the hypothetical scents happen to be:

Pumpkin
Yellow Cake
Tart Pink Grapefruit
Chocolate

Sadly, we'll have to discard any responses which say: Lavender! Huevos Rancheros! Or Viggo, especially in that one movie.

Another comparison question!

Meanwhile, back in the world of sanity... would someone be able to tell me if the chocolate note in Velvet Underpinnings is closer to the chocolate in Sweet Box, Burlesque or the good old fashioned Chocolate layering note from back in the day? Or is it it's own special kind of chocolate smell? I'm a bit fussy about chocolate - sometimes it works on my skin, and sometimes it doesn't...

Thanks much :)

MogileFS Maintenance
[info]mhwest wrote in [info]lj_maintenance
**EDIT Thu Dec 3 23:24:15 UTC 2009 **

Hey Everyone, we are about to run the last alter job that we need to on our database servers. This will effect userpics / scrapbook / vgift images for the next few hours. Have no fear, your images aren't lost, there is just a really intensive process running on the servers which store the information for mogilefs. Thank you for your understanding and all the LJ love...

Hey LJers,

I just wanted to let you all know that we are going to be performing some mogilefs maintenance over the next few days. We will be upgrading our current version to latest stable as well as changing some db config information to better handle the amount of files we are currently hosting. This shouldn't cause a big impact on site stability, but you may see some minor delays with userpic / scrapbook images appearing or other requests associated with our mogilefs. We would love to not have that happen, but unfortunately with some of the steps we need to take we have to cause a delay with images. I figured this was a better solution than taking down all of LiveJournal because well lets face it, we all need our daily LJ fix ;)

Thanks,

Eleanor of Aquitaine 5ml
[info]coyoterose wrote in [info]arcanasoapslove
Hello all,

I have a 5ml of Eleanor of Aquitaine needing a new home. Sadly, the vetiver and I do not get on. I'm interested in swapping for either the Black Amber or Nepalese Amber layering notes. If you're game, please drop me a note for details. :)

Description: The scent of vivacity, beauty, royalty, wisdom, and an absolute, unfaltering strength. Precious attar of roses, rare chandan wood, cinnamon leaf*, cream accord, aged vetiver, and a hint of thorny green stems hidden under fragrant velvet petals.

Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso... AKA The Third Group!
[info]octoberess wrote in [info]arcanasoapslove
Darlings!

We're beyond thrilled with the offerings in Group #3! And since we're essentially caught up on shipping Groups 1 and 2 (aside from the little matter of backordered ingredients for Black Coconut sugar scrub), it seemed like a good time. After this, there will be no more LN releases for a while, although a Group #4 should be coming along eventually.

These will be available for about 1 week (or until we run out, whichever comes first) from us to the retailers. Which may mean the retailers have them for you much longer than that, much shorter than that, not at all, or some other option I haven't thought of.

These are available as 5 ml perfume oils, as sugar scrubs, and in some cases, as body creams. If they aren't listed as body creams, then they are not going to be available. The body creams are our thick, rich cocoa butter creams, now offered in 4 oz jars. (With no shimmer!!) Finally, the sugar scrubs are our normal 10 oz jars and all use shea butter.

Group #3:

Apricot
5 ml perfume oil
sugar scrub with finely ground apricot kernels

Bergamot
5 ml perfume oil
sugar scrub with citrus extract

Egyptian Musk
5 ml perfume oil
sugar scrub with red Australian clay

Honey Tobacco
5 ml perfume oil
sugar scrub with honey extract

Marshmallow
5 ml perfume oil
sugar scrub with vanilla beans
body cream

Rich Vanilla
5 ml perfume oil
sugar scrub with vanilla beans
body cream

How about those body creams? Luscious, no? Ever since they were introduced to the public, the honey we've used in these isn't merely raw Oregon honey. Oh no, no, no. It's raw, organic, 100% hand-processed (no machines!), triple hand-strained North Portland honey from bees who reside right next door to Arcana. Harvested by lovely beekeeper Maggie Burnett-- who also moonlights occasionally for us as a soap cutter, scrub maker, bottle filler, etc. Talk about local ingredients!

Some of Group #3 will probably be available at some of the places Arcana is sold, including:

Happy layering!

Julia
